Initiative for stronger Atlantic salmon gets funding

A Canadian project aimed at improving the health and welfare of cultured Atlantic salmon using genomics and other biotechnologies has received $4 million in funds.

One of the project's goals is to provide farmers with disease-resistant broodstock

The project, led by Memorial University faculty of science professor Kurt Gamperl and Dr Mark Fast of the University of Prince Edward Island’s Atlantic Veterinary College, will mitigate the impact of climate-related challenges on salmon aquaculture.
