Fish health company increasing products and services

Dr. Peter McKenzie has joined Aquatic Life Sciences as Vice President, Projects and Development.

“We’re very pleased to have Dr. McKenzie join our team of veterinarians and company professionals” said Dr. Jim Brackett, President of Aquatic Life Sciences.  “Peter’s extensive experience in all aspects of aquaculture provides an excellent additional resource for our projects and our customers.”

Peter will lead projects to introduce new approved fish health products and enhance applications of current Aquatic Life Sciences products.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to apply my experience to the companies’ projects at the forefront of fish health product development and applications”, said Dr. McKenzie.  “I’ve dealt with fish health products as a veterinarian, producer and regulator, and now it will be great to be developing new products and enhanced applications.”

Dr. McKenzie received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan in 2000, and received his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Simon Fraser University in 1996. 

He has worked in the aquaculture industry for 15 years, holding positions as private aquaculture veterinarian, Fish Health Manager Heritage Salmon/Mainstream Canada and as National Manager of Imports/Exports, Aquatic Animal Health Division of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.  From 2010 to 2015, Dr. McKenzie held the position of Fish Health and Product Quality Manager for Cermaq Canada.

Aquatic Life Sciences is a privately held company based in Ferndale, Washington, USA and Nanaimo, BC, Canada.  It is the parent company of Syndel Laboratories Ltd. in Canada, and Western Chemical Inc. in the USA. Aquatic Life Sciences currently markets products to over 40 countries.
