The animal nutrition firm Phibro Animal Health Corporation recently announced the establishment of a new aquaculture unit following its acquisition of AquaVet Ltd., a technical consulting and contract research organization with a focus on the international aquaculture market.

Dr. Ra'anan Ariav, D.V.M. and founder and CEO of AquaVet, will join Phibro as Vice President, Phibro Aquaculture, tasked with leading the build-out of the newly established business unit.

Phibro Aquaculture’s initial focus will be on Phibro’s medicated feed additive and nutritional specialty products, some of which are already approved for aquatic species.

“The global aquaculture market is the fastest growing animal protein market in the world,” Phibro president Larry Miller said in a statement announcing the new department. “The creation of the aquaculture business unit will enable Phibro to offer aquaculture customers... technical service and management expertise supporting our existing products while leading the development and introduction of new,” aquatic animal health products.
