As government regulators are banning net-pen farming in British Columbia waters, it’s important to discuss what this will mean for the Indigenous communities and what the way forward is.

The Women in Caribbean Aquaculture, WiCA, headed by Dr. Juli-Anne Russo comprises women scientists of Caribbean origins dedicated to the growth of aquaculture in the Caribbean region. The session will feature these women discussing their work to introduce more women into aquaculture and support those already working in the sector.

The Women in Caribbean Aquaculture was founded in 2022. It comprises women of Caribbean roots who have backgrounds in engineering, science, research, and farming and are dedicated to the growth of aquaculture in the Caribbean region.
